The resources created for Project
Reconnect are contained on a single DVD. Consistent with the overall goal of
"self determination" we create a DVD because it means people in the local
congregations can choose what they use off the DVD on any given Sunday. We
would like to place more resources on the DVD creating more choices and we
look forward to such an eventuality. The DVD resource is based on the
Revised Common Lectionary. The Revised Common Lectionary is a planned set of
readings with a three-year cycle. Our use of the lectionary is an
organisational tool to make it easier for everyone to co-ordinate planning
for any given Sunday. We recognise there are other benefits and limitations
in using the lectionary.
At the moment the resources on, and
with the DVD, are:
1. A Screen showing the references
to the lectionary readings for the given Sunday.
2. A “Kids Corner” message (usually around 4-6 minutes)
3. Four Discussion Starters (Questions)
4. A Message for the day (usually 7-12 minutes)
5. Approximately 10 Hymns/Songs
With the DVD you also receive an
information sheet that indicates the main text(s) used by the preacher and a
précis of the preachers message. It also contains a brief description of
“Kids Corner”. There are suggestions for other resources for that
Sunday. Regular reference is made to resources from the "Uniting in Worship"
Blue Book. This book can be purchased from various outlets for around $6.
DVD’s are created for every
Sunday in the year with material prepared for each of those Sundays.
The DVD is posted by ordinary mail (see page 19 on Cost & Ordering).
For those just starting out on the
journey of developing their own worship we recommend "Words for Worship"
(from MediaCom, see web resources.) alongside our own resource. It provides
all the prayers and hymn suggestions for each Sunday of the year. Another
comprehensive lectionary based resource is “Seasons of the Spirit” also
available from MediaCom.
