We found in the Mid-Lachlan Mission
Area that support and training is essential in gaining the greatest benefit from
Project Reconnect. Many of the congregations that contact us for our resources
get little or no support or training and so the resources simply become a
replacement for a minister. This is nearly a complete failure to achieve the
intent and potential of Project Reconnect. To us, simply using the Project Reconnect DVD as a
minister replacement typically reinforces the sense of grief and loss from
perceived “better days".
The goals of Project Reconnect aim at a
complete renewal and vitalisation of every participating congregation. This is
achieved, not by the use of the DVD but by the intentional development of the
Project Reconnect goals and values within the worship and life of the church.
Support
Kingsley Murphy has now been appointed as the Development Consultant for Project Reconnect. If you wish to discuss any aspect of Project Reconnect, he can be contacted on the following:
Phone: 02 68855778
Email: kingsley.murphy@bigpond.com
Kingsley is available to advise and assist congregations who are considering using Project Reconnect. This would be done primarily by phone or email but he is able to travel should this be more beneficial. (Travel and accommodation costs would need to be met).
A resource pack, known as the "Toolbox", is available to order from Kingsley. It contains more information about Project Reconnect as well as some interviews of people explaining how using Project Reconnect has helped them and their congregation.
